Our methodology

robocomp project

Methodological development in the ROBOCOMP project The partner organisations developed the methodological materials based on the common points of the Hungarian and Spanish curricula. The teaching materials suggest the use of five types of robot. During the development of the learning materials, the two partner organisations have continuously consulted and coordinated their development work. The participating teachers were also involved in the development process. A collection of 40 mini-projects was compiled. The teaching materials are based on the use of Indi, AI Vinu, HP Otto, ArTeC and micro:bit robots and support differentiated school education. The ready-to-use teaching materials are available in English, Hungarian and Spanish free of charge at https://robocomp.abacusan.hu/.

The teaching materials developed are designed for children aged 5-14. The topics are aligned with the Hungarian and Spanish national curricula. We have chosen topics that feature prominently in the curricula of both countries and are covered at around the same age in the curriculum. This harmonisation effort was greatly facilitated by the first meeting of teachers from the schools involved in the project, where, after a thorough discussion, we jointly selected the topics for which we would later develop the microprojects on a consensus basis.

The robots to facilitate the playful, activity-based processing of the learning material were selected based on the practices and preferences of the two partner organisations. Abacusan has developed the curricula for Sphero indi and AI Vinu brand robots, while Interobotics has developed the curricula for micro:bit, HP Otto and ArTeC brand robots.

The table below summarises the selected topics and the robots used in the learning materials. The learning materials developed can be freely downloaded from https://robocomp.abacusan.hu/.

The teaching materials include the content, tools, main activities and suggested timetable of the robotics microprojects.

The teaching materials are presented by subject, by grade, drawing attention to the links between subjects, the main developmental goals and opportunities, and the possibilities for differentiation.
